The 37th Annual Minnesota High School All-Star Football Game will be played on Saturday June 26 at Husky Stadium on the campus of St. Cloud  State University. The kick-off will be at 7:00 PM. This will be the sixth year that St. Cloud State University has hosted the All-Star Football Game.

Kayla Krause carded an 89, but missed out on a top 10 finish by six strokes, as Wadena-Deer Creek finished 14th in the 17-team Cardinal Invite at The Vintage in Staples on Saturday.

Maggie Leland of Alexandria fired a 73 for medalist honors in leading the Cardinals to the team title. She was joined by teammate Amanda Bigger, who finished fifth individually with 80.

The host Staples-Motley squad finished 13th, five strokes ahead of the Lady Wolverines, and was paced by Kelly Hagenson, who finished seventh with 81.

Section 6, which consist of area Section 6A boys hockey teams, finished fifth in the Ted Brill Great 8 Hockey Festival held at the Wakota Arena in South St. Paul from March 26 through March 28.

The Section 6 team opened the tournament with a 5-1 loss to Section 2 on Friday night, but bounced back to defeat Section 1 in the consolation semifinals Saturday by a score of 4-2. Alexandria’s Thomas Williams had two points in the victory with a goal and assist.

The 26th Ted Brill Great 8 High School All-Star Hockey Festival is back at Wakota Civic Center in South St. Paul this Friday through Sunday, March 26th – 28th.

The Ted Brill Great 8 is a Minnesota Hockey tradition and features many of the finest high school senior hockey players in the state playing for their High School sections.

The All-Section 6A boys hockey team was announced on Monday with section champion Alexandria and runner-up Sartell-St. Stephen leading the way with seven players honored.

Alexandria head coach Scott Woods was named Section 6A Coach of the Year for leading the Cardinals to a 21-8-1 record and state tournament for the first time since 1996. Pat Forte of Sartell-St. Stephen was named Section 6A Assistant Coach of the Year.

Players are voted to the team by the section coaches.

Troy Nichol netted the game-winner with 2:41 left to play to give Virgina/Mountain Iron-Buhl the 4-3 victory over Alexandria in the Class A state consolation semifinals Thursday morning at the Mariucci Arena.

Alexandria responded to yesterday’s 7-1 whitewashing by the third-ranked Mahtomedi Zephyrs by tallying a pair of goals within the first 2:27 of the opening period.

In the fourth year of seeding the qualified teams, Breck School of Golden Valley was chosen No. 1 in Class A and Minnetonka was chosen No. 1 in Class AA for the 2010 State Boys’ Hockey Tournament.

The Breck School Mustangs qualified to seek their second consecutive and fourth overall Class A title. A new champion will emerge in Class AA because Eden Prairie, the 2009 champion, was defeated by Minnetonka in the Section 6AA final.
