Bluffton saw its 2011 season come to an end during a heartbreaking loss to Staples in the Region 16C Tournament on Sunday. The Braves finished the season with a 14-12 record. Bluffton’s Kyle Dykhoff and Nimrod’s Ben Bestland were locked in a pitchers duel for the good part of the Region 14C second round game at New York Mills on Sunday morning. Unfortunately for the Braves, it was the Gnats that found a way to pester Dykhoff for enough runs to pull out a 4-1 victory.

Bluffton pitcher Dustin Geiser struck out seven during his solid nine-inning effort on the hill Friday night as the Braves fended off a late Miltona rally to win the Region 14C opener.

Second-seeded Detroit Lakes jumped all over Bluffton starter Kyle Dykhoff enroute to the 9-3 victory in Friday’s Hi-10 elimination game at Washington Park in Detroit Lakes.

Dykhoff was rocked for nine runs (seven earned) on eight hits in nearly five innings. He was knocked out of the game when he surrendered a two-out, three-run homer to the Angels Phil Kirchner in the bottom of the fifth that gave Detroit Lakes the 9-0 lead.

Terry Geiser of the Bluffton Braves is among the 2011 inductees into the Minnesota Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame. He is currently in his 39th season with the Braves, the last 15 years as the manager.

Joining Geiser will be Duane Gaulke of Jordan, Don Goracke of Morris, John Hanowski of Little Falls, Ken Kuck of New Ulm and Wendell Stuewe of Hamburg.

Kevin Tumberg struck out seven when he tossed a complete game in the heat shortened, seven-inning 7-5 victory over New York Mills during the regular season finale on Sunday.

Kevin Tumberg's bunt during a suicide squeeze in the seventh inning surprised the visiting Perham Pirates, and drove in Marc Sweere from third base for in the winning run during the Braves' 3-2 victory in Sunday's Hi-10 League action.

Kyle Dykhoff struck out 12 batters enroute to a complete game win over New York Mills on July 2. The Braves rallied in the late innings to pull out the close 3-2 victory over the Millers.
