College Volleyball: Minnesota rallies to defeat Washington in five sets; advance to NCAA Regionals

Minnesota (20-11) rallied from a 0-2 deficit to defeat Washington (24-8) in five sets by scores of 18-25, 20-25, 25-17, 25-21, 15-11 to advance to the NCAA Regionals on Saturday, Dec. 3.
Minnesota will host Iowa State, who defeated Miami (Fla.) earlier today, in the NCAA Regionals on Friday, Dec. 9 at 7 p.m. In the other regional matchup at Minneapolis. Purdue will face Florida State at 5 p.m. on Dec. 3.

Prep Volleyball: Sebeka’s Lillquist named Park Region Conference MVP
Sebeka, which won the outright Park Region Conference crown with a 6-0 mark, was led by Jessica Lillquist. The senior middle hitter was voted the Park Region Conference Most Valuable Player.

College Volleyball: No. 19 Gophers sweep border rival Wisconsin

The No. 19 University of Minnesota volleyball team beat border rival Wisconsin in straight sets tonight at the Sports Pavilion (25-21, 25-21, 28-26). The victory increases the Gopher’s overall record to 17-11 and 10-9 in the Big Ten Conference. The Golden Gophers swept the Badgers this season, also defeating UW on Oct. 19 in Madison, Wis. in five sets.
College Volleyball: Nebraska claims outright Big Ten Championship

With its 3-0 win over Iowa on Tuesday, Nebraska clinched its first Big Ten Volleyball Championship outright. The second-ranked Huskers earned their 17 th conference win of the season en route to the university’s first Big Ten title as a member of the conference.
College Volleyball: Mavericks ink five players to 2012 recruiting class

MANKATO, Minn. – Head coach Dennis Amundson announced that the Minnesota State Maverick volleyball program has signed five student-athletes to National Letters of Intent for 2012.
Joining the Mavericks next year will be Keli Johnson of Fargo, N.D., Rachel Ott of Stoughton, Wis., Courtney Schulz of Spencer, Wis., Lexi Platz of Lafayette, Minn., and Kenzie Lind of Rushford, Minn.

For the first time since 2009, the No. 16 University of Minnesota volleyball team was swept at home by an opponent, falling to No. 24 Michigan, today at the Sports Pavilion (25-21, 25-21, 25-22). With the loss, the Golden Gophers fall to 15-10 overall and 8-8 in the Big Ten Conference.

MOORHEAD, Minn. – The St. Scholastica volleyball team came from a set down and then could not close out 11th-ranked University of St. Thomas as the Tommies won in five in one for the ages in the second round of the NCAA Tournament at the Moorhead Regional.
