College Football: Iowa State stampedes North Dakota State 34-17
Coach Paul Rhoads won his debut with the Cyclones as Austen Arnaud threw for 227 yards and two touchdowns to lead Iowa State past North Dakota State 34-17 Thursday.
Alexander Robinson added 83 yards rushing and a touchdown for the Cyclones, who snapped a 10-game losing streak. Arnaud also rushed for 78 yards and a touchdown.
North Dakota State got as close as 24-17 midway through the third quarter before Iowa State pulled away.
Pat Paschall rushed for a career-high 146 yards and a touchdown for the Bison. Nick Mertens was 15 of 27 passing for 178 yards, with one touchdown and one interception.
The Cyclones outgained the Bison 442-388 in total yards of offense.
North Dakota State (0-1) travels to Huntsville, Texas Saturday for a 6 p.m. contest with Sam Houston State.
