Cross Country: Area runners earn all-conference honors at Mid-State meet

Emma Schmitz earned all-conference honors for Wadena-Deer Creek as the Wolverines girls’ team competed in the Mid-State Conference meet Thursday afternoon at Crosswoods Golf Course in Cross Lake.

Schmitz, an eight-grader, finished ninth overall with a time of 15:20.62.

Neil Janson received honorable mention for the Wolverine boys’ team, who finished sixth. The junior placed 13th at 18:28.11.

The third-place Staples-Motley girls and fourth-place Cardinal boys teams were led by all-conference Lisa Reichert and Emma Pogreba and honorable mentions Emily Fuhrman and Blake Miller.

Park Rapids’ Lydia Lutz won the girls race with an overall time of 14:34.10 to lead the runner-up Panthers. Also garnering all-conference honors was Alex Pederson and honorable mention Morgan Olson. All-conference placers Taylor Kimball and Isaac Overmyer led the third-place Panther boys’ team.

Detroit Lakes’ Dylan Ramstad-Skoyles was the boys’ top finisher with a time of 17:25.45
