Cross Country: Area teams place in Wadena-Deer Creek Invitational Tuesday

The Thunder scored 37 points to capture the team title. The Cardinals had 56 points to capture second, squeezing past the third-place Little Falls Flyers by two points.

 

Gunner Johnson was the highest individual Cardinal placer for the boys team, taking third overall with a time of 17:26.16. Isaac Fuhman and Josh Freese finished back-to-back at the line, capturing ninth and tenth place respectively for Staples-Motley.

 

The host Wolverines boys team placed sixth and was led by Neil Janson, who finished 18^th with a time of 19:08.82.

 

On the girls side, Park Rapids Area took the team title with 49 points.

 

Staples-Motley finished third with 57 points; easily outdistancing the fourth-place Lady Wolverines' score of 104.

 

The Lady Cardinals were led by Emma Pogreba, who finished third overall at 16:04.43, followed by teammate Kaytlin Roth in fourth at 16:16.80.

 

Hannah Toedter was the highest Lady Wolverine finisher at eighth with a time of 16.58.64.

Byron Schuldt of Nevis was the boys overall individual winner at 16:57.30 while Manon Gammon-Deering of Little Falls won the girls’ race with a time of 15:49.14
