Prep Boys Basketball: Sebeka bounces back to throttle the Cardinals, 93-57

Sebeka bounced back from their first loss of the season in a big way as the Class A, second-ranked Trojans erupted for 61 points in the first half to throttle Staples-Motley 93-57 in a non-conference game Friday.

The Trojans' workhorses Jason Sharp, John Clark, Cody Pulju and Ryan Sharp combined to score 81 points during the rout.

Clark posted a game-high 29 points and added a team-high 13 boards to finish with double-double. Pulju registered 27 points to go with his four rebounds, a team-high eight assists and six steals. Ryan Sharp gunned three of the Trojans’ eight three-pointers and was all over the court. He finished with 22 points and registered four boards, six assists, one blocked shot and six steals. Jason Sharp was held to three points, but added two rebounds and a pair of steals.

"It was a great way for the seniors to finish their final regular season home game.” Sebeka head coach Jon Lillquist said. “They've really done such a great job it, was appropriate all of them had really good games. They've given our fans many years of great enjoyment and have been great kids to work with."

The Trojans' other two seniors on the team, Reid Redetzke and Tyler Ament also contributed in the victory. Redetzke registered four points, five rebounds and one steal while Ament came off the bench and hauled down four boards in 14 minutes of playing time.

Sebeka shot the lights out, especially in the first half, when they raced to a 61-29 lead at the break. The Trojans finished with 54 percent (35-for-65) shooting from the floor and went 15-for-18 (83 percent) from the charity stripe.

Staples-Motley (4-22) shot 47 percent (23-for-49), but turned the ball over 30 times and were outrebounded 35-21. Grant Longbella was the only Cardinal to post double figures with 16 points in the loss.

Sebeka (24-1) will wrap up the regular season at 2 p.m. Saturday (today) against the Class AA, fourth-ranked Pequot Lakes
