Prep Football: Gaustad, Vikings mow down United North Central, 27-0

Pelican Rapids’ Tom Gaustad bulldozed his way into the end zone three times as the third-seeded Vikings (5-4) blanked No. 6 United North Central 27-0 in the Section 8AA quarterfinal game Tuesday night.

The senior full back broke loose for a 40-yard touchdown run in the second quarter to spot the host Vikings the 14-0 halftime lead. He would later tack on two touchdowns from five and four-yards out for the only second half scoring.

James Cossette got Pelican Rapids on the board with an eight-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.

The Vikings will host the No. 7 Bagley Flyers (3-6) at 2 p.m. Saturday. The Flyers are coming off a 28-0 upset of second-seeded Frazee in another Section 8AA quarterfinal game last night.

United North Central lost their fifth straight game and finished the season with a 3-6 mark.
