Prep Football: Osakis runs past United North Central 54-8

Brandon Junes found receiver Keiler Skaro for a 22-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter, but it would be the only bright spot for United North Central in the 54-8 loss to Osakis during a Prairie North Conference game Friday night.

Mitch Herzog proved the offensive fireworks with three touchdowns as Osakis scored on all of their first half possessions enroute to building a 34-0 lead at halftime. The senior fullback found the endzone from 12, one and three yards out while quarterback Cody Rupert added a five-yard touchdown run and threw a 22-yard scoring strike to Martin Walsh.

The Silverstreaks picked up where they left off in the first half as Brian Thorstad raced 43 yards for a score and Rupert picked up his third touchdown of the game with a 23-yard scamper.

After the Warriors cracked into the scoreboard, Osakis wrapped up the scoring on a three-yard run from Devon Horvath-Nelson.

Offensively, the Warriors complied 162 yards of total offense with Junes completing seven passes for 85 yards. Skaro was Junes’ favorite target with three receptions for 40 yards. Markus Tolkkinen led the United North Central rushing corps with 36 yards on five carries. Carlos Castro also rushed five times for 17 yards.

Justin Luedke led all Warrior defenders with 13 tackles in the loss.

United North Central (1-3) will host fourth-ranked Barnesville for Homecoming at 7 p.m. Friday in Menahga.
