Prep Football: Wadena-Deer Creek lands two on All-Section 6AA Football Team

The 2011 All-Section 6AA Football team was announced this afternoon, with Wadena-Deer Creek landing two players on the 23 player squad.

The Wolverines, who went 0-9 this fall, had seniors Logan Meyer and Jacob Ludovissie receiving postseason accolades.

Meyer smashed his way past the 1,000-yard mark this season from his running back position. He finished with 1,004 yards rushing on 156 carries and tallied 10 touchdowns from the backfield. Meyer’s best performance came in the Wolverines’ regular season finale, when he rushed for a season-high 232 yards on 35 carries and two touchdowns in the 40-14 loss to Royalton. The seniors’ longest touchdown run from scrimmage was a 80-yard burst in the Wolverines’ season-opening 22-21 loss to West Central Area.

Meyer averaged 111.5 yards per game rushing and was second on the team with 86 tackles (62 solo, 24 assisted) at his linebacker spot.

Ludovisse led the Wolverines in tackles from his linebacker position this season. He averaged 18.3 tackles per game with 90 solo tackles. Ludovisse finished the season with 144 tackles overall.

Area players also landing on the all-section team were Sean Colton (Sr., RB), Ben Frieler (Sr., RB), Austin Kaiser (Sr., QB) of Long Prairie-Grey Eagle. The Thunder went 4-6 this season.

The Section 6AA champion Pierz Pioneers led the way with five players garnering accolades with runner-up Sauk Centre close behind with four.
