The Wadena-Deer Creek football team wrapped up the season on Monday with the annual team awards banquet.
Seniors Logan Meyer and Jacob Ludovissie raked in three top honors this prep football season.
Meyer was named the Wolverines’ Offensive Player of the Year, while Ludovissie received the Defensive Player of the Year award. Both players were recently named to the All-Section 6AA Team. Meyer, however, was the lone Wolverine representative on the All-Prairie North Conference first team, but Ludovissie received Prairie North honorable mention accolades along with junior quarterback/defensive back Evan VanErp.
Meyer ended up topping the 1,000 yard mark this season—rushing for 1,004 yards and 10 touchdowns to lead the Wolverines backfield. Ludovissie led Wadena-Deer Creek in tackles from his linebacker position with 144 tackles overall.
Mike Paavola (Jr., OL/DL) received the Wolverine Award, with Chris Steward (Jr., RB) garnering the Most Improved award. Special Teams Player of the Year went to senior Jake Rude and Sutton Lohmiller picked up the Scout Player of the Year award.
Wadena-Deer Creek finished the season 0-9, with two losses coming within eight points or less. The Wolverines were edged by West Central 22-21 in the season opener, and they nearly upset ranked Osakis (34-27).
