Prep Girls Basketball: Big first half allows Lady Trojans to scuttle Verndale, 69-27

Alicia Boe posted a double-double with a team-high 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead Sebeka in a 69-27 Park Region Conference victory over Verndale on Thursday night.
Boe also dished out a team-high seven assists as three Lady Trojans finished in double figures during the rout.
“One of our best team efforts on both ends of the court on the season!” Sebeka head coach Mike Heino exclaimed. “We started out slow but then went on a 36-2 run toward the end of the first half.”
The torrid first half run allowed Sebeka to carry a 45-17 lead at the break.
Jessica Lillquist added 12 points while Katie Huttunen dropped in 10 and had seven of the Lady Trojans’ 23 steals in the game. Both players registered five boards and five assists as Sebeka remained undefeated in the conference with a 10-0 record.
Sebeka shot 42 percent (25-for-60) from the floor and converted 56 percent (10-for-18) from the charity stripe.
Teresa Moenkedick accounted for half of the Lady Pirates scoring with a team-high 12 points in the loss. Verndale has lost three straight to fall to 6-14 overall and 3-7 in the conference.
Brett Brockpahler contributed nine points and seven rebounds and Jasmine Titcomb seven points for the Lady Trojans, who improved to 15-5.
Sebeka heads to Henning while Verndale travels to Pillager for Park Region Conference games on Tuesday. Both games are scheduled to tip-off at 7:30 p.m.
