Prep Girls Golf: Lady Wolverine Kayla Krause advances to section meet

Kayla Krause shot an 87 to advance to the Section 8AA meet as an individual participant following completion of the South Subsection 8AA girls golf tournament Thursday at the Wildflower Golf Course.
Krause was the lone Lady Wolverine to advance, as Wadena-Deer Creek finished fifth in the team standings with 417 points. She finished sixth overall in the individual standings, and just missed out placing in the top five by a stroke.
The Wadena-Deer Creek girls golf team wrapped up the season at the South Subsection 8AA girls golf meet on Thursday. Team members include (from left): Ella Harrison, Breanna Speed, Kayla Krause, Amanda Kramer, Kelsey Browne, Heather Theisen and Paige Hartman.
Detroit Lakes, led by medalist Matty Tschider’s 80, joins Perham and Pelican Rapids as the top three teams to qualify for sections on Tuesday (June 1) at the Longbow Golf Course in Walker.
The top six individuals not on qualifying teams that will join Krause include Lexi Mattfield (95), Rylee Danielson (102) and Gabby Anderson (105) of Hawley and Erica Clark (102) of Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton.
Heather Theisen of Wadena-Deer Creek missed out on qualifying by one stroke, as she carded a 106. Ella Harrison was two strokes behind the last qualifier, with 107.
Also scoring for the Lady Wolverines was Amanda Kramer with 117, Breanna Speed 118 and Kelsey Browne with 121.
