Prep Girls Golf: Lady Wolverines finish third at co-ed invitational Saturday

The Wadena-Deer Creek girls golf team placed third with 399 points in their co-ed invitational at the Whitetail Run on Saturday.
The morning rain made for a miserable start, and quickly turned into a thunderstorm that blew through, sending the golfers off the course for nearly an hour.
But after that, the sun came out and it was back on the fairway.
Kayla Krause carded a 93, and was followed by Heather Theisen, who shot a 99 as the Lady Wolverines missed out on the runner-up spot by four strokes to Staples-Motley, who tallied a 395.
The Cardinals were led by second-place finisher Kelly Hagenson with 86, but the Grand Rapids Thunderhawks and medalist Mikki Kromy (82) easily outdistanced the runner-ups by 49 strokes to win the title.
Rounding out the scoring for the third-place Lady Wolverines were Breanna Speed with 103 and Ella Harrison was one-stroke behind at 104. Amanda Kramer (107),
Kelsey Browne (111) and Paige Hartman (120) provided the kicker scores for Wadena-Deer Creek.
