Prep Girls Hockey: Willmar lays an egg on the Blue Devils, 8-0

Willmar, Minn.—Shelby Schneider tallied a pair of goals and two playmakers as Willmar pelted Long Prairie-Grey Eagle/Wadena-Deer Creek with 54 shots en route to Friday’s 8-0 victory over the Blue Devils.

Four of the Cardinals’ goals came on the power play and one tally came shorthanded. Willmar scored five goals in the second period to break open a 1-0 game.

Annie Johnston added a goal and three assists and Baylie Young stopped 15 shots for the Cardinals, who improved to 12-7-2.

Sarah Holm stopped 46 shots in the loss for the Blue Devils.

The Blue Devils (5-13) travel to Lake of the Woods Saturday (today) during Hockey Day Minnesota for a 5 p.m. game with the Lady Bears.
