Prep Softball: Area players land on All-State Softball Team

Lindsey White and Amelia Pho of Menahga and Jessica Lillquist of Sebeka were recently named to the Minnesota Fastpitch Coaches Association's 2011 Class A All-State Softball Team.

White was a first-team pick while Pho earned second-team honors. Lillquist landed on the honorable mention team.

Lillquist scattered 37 hits in 21 games for Sebeka during the 2011 season. She clubbed six doubles, scored 16 runs and drove in 31 RBIs for the Lady Trojans, who finished with a 11-10 mark. Overall, Lillquist notched a .463 batting average with a .538 slugging percentage and registered a .937 fielding percentage at first base. 

White posted a 13-7 mark with two shutout and a perfect game. She surrendered 99 hits in 132 innings and struck out 182 batters while in the circle. Offensively, White went 32-for-80 at the plate with five doubles and a triple, scored 13 times and drove in 12 runs in her final season in a Lady Brave uniform.

Pho went 30-for-78 with three home runs, six doubles and three triples for the Lady Braves to top off her high school softball career. She also notched four stolen bases, scored 22 runs and drove in 21 RBIs.

Other players recognized on the All-State team from the Beyond the Bleachers coverage area included Kari Shipman of Frazee (Class A Second-Team); Lindsay Nelson of Ottertail Central (Class AA Second-Team) and Paige Beseman of Little Falls (Class AA Second-Team)
