Sebeka defeated Park Rapids 13-3 in five innings during a non-conference
game Monday.
The Panthers would draw first blood with a run in the top of the first. A lead-off single off Sebeka pitcher Kendra Steinke would get things started for Park Rapids. A walk and a hit batter loaded the bases. An infield ground out would score the run. Steinke would strike out the next batter to get out of the inning.
Sebeka would respond with four runs in the bottom of the first, highlighted by Carly Brockpahler's two-run single. The Trojans would then tack on three more runs in the second on Jessica Lillquist's two-run double and Logan Redetzke's RBI ground out.
Park Rapids would score two in the top of the third but Sebeka would equal that with three in the home bottom of the inning as Katie Huttunen knocked in two runs with a single. Sebeka would score one run in the fourth on a Kristy Kinnunen RBI and then end the game with the ten-run rule in the bottom of the fifth after Redetzke and Steinke both had RBI singles.
“This was our most complete game of the year. Kendra pitched well and our defense played outstanding behind her with no errors and an outstanding catch by Jasmine Titcomb in left field.” Sebeka coach Jon Lillquist said. “Our hitting and base running put a lot of pressure on their defense all game long. Hopefully this was a game we can build on for the rest of the season.”
Sebeka (3-6) will tangle with another group of Panthers when they head to Parkers Prairie Tuesday (today) for a doubleheader. First pitch is at 4 p.m.
