Prep Volleyball: Lady Pirates edge Menahga in conference battle, 3-2 (UPDATED)

Teresa Moenkedick was all over the court as Verndale outlasted Menahga 3-2 during Tuesday’s Park Region Conference battle.

The junior outside hitter registered 13 kills, 27 digs and five ace serves—all team highs— for the Lady Pirates, who needed five sets to turn back the Lady Braves 10-25, 25-22, 25-23, 24-26 and 15-6 to complete the season sweep.

Jordanna Schluttner posted a double-double with 10 blocks and 11 kills while Sarah Moenkedick added 19 set assists and 12 digs. Miranda Dougherty also had 11 kills, four blocks and two ace serves for the Lady Pirates.

The Lady Braves, who were swept by Verndale earlier in the season, got solid numbers from Jenny Skoog with 11 kills, eight digs and four set assists. Tarah Cleveland racked up five kills, 15 digs and one set assist. Alicia Ahlf posted seven kills and six digs.

Beth Tormanen led the Lady Braves’ backcourt with 19 digs and Delanie Weyer posted 21 set assists.

Verndale (4-13-1) will travel to Pillager while Menahga (5-14) heads to Henning at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
