Prep Volleyball: Lady Pirates turn back Rebels, 3-1

Verndale had a strong team effort during Monday’s 3-1 non-conference victory over visiting Eagle Valley.

The Lady Pirates also served up 11 aces as they won the match by scores of 27-25, 25-7, 19-25 and 25-8. Teresa Moenkedick, Jordyn Glenz, Elyssa Kern, Jordanna Schluttner and Miranda Dougherty each served up two aces..

Teresa Moenkedick posted a team-high 12 kills to go with her 17 digs. Sarah Moenkedick led the Lady Pirates’ backcourt with 22 digs and registered a team-high 21 set assists. Schluttner notched a team-high 14 blocks to go with her 11 kills, five digs and one set assist.

Also contributing for the Lady Pirates were Glenz with six kills, 12 digs, eight blocks and one set assist; Dougherty had nine kills, 10 digs and three blocks and Krista Dailey complied two kills, three digs, nine blocks and four set assists.

Verndale (3-4) travels to Henning at 7:30 p.m. Thursday
