Prep Volleyball: Verndale goes winless at Ulen-Hitterdal Tournament

Verndale dropped three matches, but picked up a tie in another during Saturday’s Ulen-Hitterdal Tournament.

The Lady Pirates were topped by Kittson County Central (25-17, 25-11) and Hawley (25-14, 25-14) before they manage to salvage a tie with Norman County West (25-16, 23-25). Verndale capped the tournament with a 23-25, 13-25 loss to the host Ulen-Hitterdal Spartans.

Statistically, Teresa Moenkedick registered a team-high 28 kills and 40 digs for the Lady Pirates. Sarah Moenkedick notched four of the Lady Pirates’ eight service aces and paced the team with 29 setting assists. She also notched 25 digs during the tournament.

Jordanna Schluttner also contributed defensively with a team-high 21 blocks and collected 25 digs. Jessica Wright also had 25 digs with Jordyn Glenz chipping in with 23 digs and eight blocks.

Verndale (3-8-1) will host New York Mills at 7:30 p.m. Thursday
