The Wadena-Deer Creek 17U volleyball team traveled to the Bloomington Kennedy Athletic Complex to participate in the North Country Region 20th Annual President’s Day Festival.

The Lady Wolverines went 8-1 in the 17 Gold Division to capture third place in the 32-team field. Coach Julia Snyder said the girls played really well and worked hard in the tournament.

“We even beat the team that finished number one in pool play,” she said. “It was a really fun tournament. It was tiring with a lot of matches, but the girls did real well and worked hard. I really enjoyed coaching the group.”

A total of 560 teams participated in the two-day tournament that featured 16 age brackets for players age 12 through 18.

Team members participating for the Lady Wolverines were: Brittney Noon, Kelsi Crawford, Rachel Craig, Sydney Schissel, Avery Jackson, Courtney Volkmann, Caitlin Volkmann, Rachael Carlisle and Emily Miron.
