Prep Wrestling: Wolverines handle section rival Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale, 56-15

Wadena-Deer Creek racked up 10 victories to easily dispatch section rival Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale 56-15 on Thursday night.

Five of the Wolverines victories were came on forfeits while Josh Lawson (112), Mitch Steffens (119), Jared Wegscheid (140) and Isaac Lustila (189) garnered pins in the dual meet. Lawson dispatched the Raiders’ Marshall Willis in 4:19; seventh-ranked Steffens scored a quick pin over Dan Houchin at 1:18; Wegscheid stuck Dakota Fink at 4:35 and Lustila notched the fastest pin over Dalton Baker in 1:05.

Rounding out the Wolverines scoring was Jordan Rentz (135), who collected a technical fall at 5:23 against the Raiders Hayden Truax and Tony Reurink (215), who scored a 5-0 decision over Dillon Koppendrayer.

Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale won three matches as second-ranked Colin Turchin tallied a pin over the Wolverines Dylan Anderson at 3:28 during the heavyweight match. Kasey Horn (125) won a 9-4 decision over Zach Bernu and Dillon Card (171) received a forfeit victory.

Both teams double forfeited at 130 to round out the nights ation.
