Two Snurdbirds head to state as draftees

Midway pitchers Jake Lund and Shane Hendrickson will have the opportunity to play in the Minnesota Class C State Amateur Baseball Tournament beginning on Saturday, August 20.

After the Midway Snurdbirds, the defending Class C Champions, failed to qualify after losing to Vergas on Friday night, both Lund and Hendrickson were drafted by state qualifiers at the conclusion of the Region 16C Tournament on Sunday.

Lund was drafted by the Region 16C Champion Brandon-Evansville Bluedogs while Hendrickson was selected by the runner-up Pelican Rapids Lakers.

The Bluedogs are scheduled to face the Region 11C runner-up Raymond Rockets at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in Brownton while the Lakers face the Region 11C champion Sacred Heart Saints at 5 p.m. Saturday, also in Brownton.
