Womens College Basketball: Huskies ink four during early signing period

St. Cloud, Minn. -- St. Cloud State University women’s basketball coach Lori Fish announced the signing of four high school athletes to letters of intent today, the first day of the early signing period.

Forwards Alyssa Eschrich of Prior Lake and Alexis Petermann of Fond du Lac, Wis., and posts Karissa LeCaptain of Algoma, Wis., and Emma Konopasek of DePere, Wis., have signed letters of intent with the Huskies for 2012-13.

“I am very pleased with this year’s recruiting class,” said Fish. “I believe they will bring depth to our team at multiple positions and will be able to impact our program immediately. They are all quality young women that are driven to exceed in the classroom as well as on the floor, and will be great ambassadors for St. Cloud State University.”

Alyssa Eschrich is a 6’0” forward from Prior Lake High School. Last season she averaged 6.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per game and was named Honorable Mention All-Conference and Academic All-Conference. During her sophomore season the Lakers won the Missota Conference Championship. She has been a member of the varsity team since her freshman year. Eschrich is a National Honor Society student and a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee at Prior Lake High School.

Emma Konopasek is a 6’2’ post from DePere High School. Last season she averaged 7.9 points and 4.6 rebounds per game, and led the conference with a field goal shooting percentage of 60.9 percent. She was named Honorable Mention All-Conference as her team posted an 18-4 overall record and advanced to the state tournament for the third straight year. Konopasek averaged 15.3 points and 8.9 rebounds as a member of the Legends of Wisconsin AAU basketball team.

Karissa LeCaptain is a 6’0” post from Algoma High School. Last season she averaged 14.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. She is a two-time All-Conference player and was first team All-State, All-Conference and All-Area her junior season. Her team was the state runner-up in 2010 and three-time Packerland Conference champions. She is also a first team All-Conference volleyball player and a varsity track letter winner. LeCaptain is an Academic letter winner.

Alexia Petermann is a 6’0” forward from Oshkosh Lourdes High School. Last season she averaged 15.6 points and 7.3 rebounds per game, and was a team captain. She is a three-time All-Conference player including first team honors the last two seasons. During her sophomore and junior seasons she earned All-Region and Honorable Mention All-State honors. She was named Trailways Conference Player of the Year in 2010 and 2011. Petermann also plays softball and volleyball, and was a member of the Wisconsin Shooting Stars AAU basketball team.

St. Cloud State women’s basketball is an NCAA Division II program and competes in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC).
