Prep Football: Annual Minnesota High School All-Star Football Game is Saturday

The 37th Annual Minnesota High School All-Star Football Game will be played on Saturday June 26 at Husky Stadium on the campus of St. Cloud State University. The kick-off will be at 7:00 PM. This will be the sixth year that St. Cloud State University has hosted the All-Star Football Game.

Prep Baseball: State Tournament Preview: La Crescent only team to defend championship; two teams making first appearances

In the 11th year of a three-class format, a new baseball champion will emerge in Class A and in Class AAA. La Crescent will attempt to defend its Class AA title. Two teams are making first appearances: Deer River and Fosston, both in the Class A tournament.

The Twins Community Fund announced on Thursday the 2010 Play Ball! Minnesota Youth Clinics schedule. This summer marks the 50th year the Minnesota Twins and the Twins Community Fund have offered free youth baseball/softball clinics, and to celebrate this milestone they will hold clinics in 50 communities throughout the Upper Midwest.

Boys Hockey: Section 6 finishes fifth at Ted Brill Great 8 Hockey Festival over weekend

Section 6, which consist of area Section 6A boys hockey teams, finished fifth in the Ted Brill Great 8 Hockey Festival held at the Wakota Arena in South St. Paul from March 26 through March 28.

The Section 6 team opened the tournament with a 5-1 loss to Section 2 on Friday night, but bounced back to defeat Section 1 in the consolation semifinals Saturday by a score of 4-2. Alexandria’s Thomas Williams had two points in the victory with a goal and assist.

Boys Hockey: 2010 Ted Brill Great 8 Hockey Festival set for this weekend

The 26th Ted Brill Great 8 High School All-Star Hockey Festival is back at Wakota Civic Center in South St. Paul this Friday through Sunday, March 26th – 28th.

The Ted Brill Great 8 is a Minnesota Hockey tradition and features many of the finest high school senior hockey players in the state playing for their High School sections.

Boys Hockey: All-Section 6A team announced Monday

The All-Section 6A boys hockey team was announced on Monday with section champion Alexandria and runner-up Sartell-St. Stephen leading the way with seven players honored.

Alexandria head coach Scott Woods was named Section 6A Coach of the Year for leading the Cardinals to a 21-8-1 record and state tournament for the first time since 1996. Pat Forte of Sartell-St. Stephen was named Section 6A Assistant Coach of the Year.

Players are voted to the team by the section coaches.
