The Minnesota baseball team (2-7) fell to Oklahoma State (4-1) 16-9 in the Dairy Queen Classic at the Metrodome on Saturday.

In the first game of the day, Northwestern defeated Loyola Marymount 3-0. Oklahoma State is now 2-0 in the Dairy Queen Classic, while Northwestern and Loyola Marymount are 1-1.

Minnesota trailed 12-0 heading into the bottom of the third, before it clawed its way back into the game to make it 12-9. It remained a three-run lead before Oklahoma State scored four insurance runs in the top of the ninth.

For the first time since 1987, Minnesota will play a postseason hockey game against North Dakota in Grand Forks as the teams will meet in a first round Western Collegiate Hockey Association playoff series March 12-14.

Laura May scored the game-winning goal at 3:31 in double overtime to help the No. 3 University of Minnesota women’s hockey team to a 5-4 win Saturday afternoon at Ridder Arena.

Wisconsin scored a late goal and Minnesota had three goals disallowed as the Badgers pulled out a 3-2 victory on Friday at Target Center.

The Badgers' Craig Smith scored his second goal of the game with 4:12 left to break a 2-2 deadlock and give Wisconsin the victory. Minnesota, meanwhile, had an apparent goal disallowed in each period.

Minnesota ended its season with a 63-52 loss to Penn State in the first round of the 2010 Big Ten Conference Tournament. The Golden Gophers finished the season with a disappointing 13-17 record, their first losing season in nine years.

China Antoine led the Gophers with 12 points, all of them coming in three-point field goals. She was the only Gopher in double figures.

The regular season comes to a close this weekend as Minnesota hosts Wisconsin in a two-game series on Friday and Sunday. Friday's game will be played at Target Center in downtown Minneapolis before the teams return to campus for Sunday's regular season finale at Mariucci Arena. Both teams are jockeying for final seeding for next week's WCHA playoffs.

Minnesota struggled against an inspired Michigan team that was playing on its Senior Night, and the result was an 83-55 loss to the Wolverines at Crisler Arena Tuesday night.

The Golden Gophers (17-12, 8-9 Big Ten) jumped ahead early in the game by making their first three field goal attempts. Junior guard Blake Hoffarber opened the scoring with a three-pointer, followed by a basket by senior forward Damian Johnson, and another jumper by Hoffarber to put Minnesota up, 7-3.

USA Hockey has announced University of Minnesota freshman goaltender Noora Räty (Espoo, Finland) has been named a Patty Kazmaier top-10 finalist, an award given out to the top Division I women’s hockey player each season.

It took 3 hours and 47 minutes of competition, but Emily West scored the game-winning goal at 1:16 in triple overtime to defeat the Minnesota State University, Mankato Mavericks, tonight at Ridder Arena.
