The Big Ten Network will televise six Golden Gopher matches this season as part of its fall television package.

Minnesota's six matches on the Big Ten Network are the most of any program in the conference this season. The Golden Gophers first match will be live at Iowa on Wednesday, Oct. 6 at 6 p.m. Minnesota will also face Northwestern on the road on Sunday, Oct. 10 in a match that will be tape-delayed at 6 p.m.

Incoming freshman Janelle Cannon of Wheeling, Ill. has left the Minnesota women’s basketball program for personal reasons. Cannon had been attending summer classes on the Twin Cities campus.

“We wish Janelle all the best,” said Golden Gopher head coach Pam Borton.

The Minnesota freshman class consists of four student-athletes, three of them already on campus (Sari Noga, Kionna Kellogg and Shonte Clay). Micaella Riche’ of Canada will join her teammates in the fall.

The State of Hockey will once again be a featured stop on the road to the Frozen Four in 2012.

Xcel Energy Center, host of the 2010 NCAA Division I Men's Hockey West Regional as well as the 2011 Frozen Four this April 7 and 9, is teaming up with the University of Minnesota to bring the 2012 West Regional back to St. Paul.

Minnesota has been chosen to host the 2014 NCAA Women’s Volleyball Regionals according to an announcement by the NCAA. It will mark the fifth time that the Minnesota volleyball program will host the NCAA Regionals.

The Golden Gophers had already been chosen to host the 2011 NCAA Women’s Volleyball Regionals on Friday, Dec. 9 and Saturday, Dec. 10 by the NCAA. When Minnesota hosts the NCAA Regionals in 2011, it will mark the fourth time in school history it has done so.

Incoming Gophers forward Nick Bjugstad was selected as the No. 19 overall pick on Friday night by the Florida Panthers at the 2010 NHL Entry Draft in Los Angeles.

Three incoming Gophers were added to the list of draftees on Saturday at the 2010 NHL Entry Draft in Los Angeles - a day after incoming freshman Nick Bjugstad was selected 19th overall by the Florida Panthers.

Six University of Minnesota student athletes have been named to the United States Under-22 Team, announced today by USA Hockey. The Gopher six, along with 16 other individuals, will compete against Canada in August. Megan Bozek (Buffalo Grove, Ill.), Sarah Erickson (Roseau, Minn.), Amanda Kessel (Madison, Wis.), Anne Schleper (St. Cloud, Minn.), Jen Schoullis (Erie, Pa.) and Emily West (Colorado Springs, Colo.) have all been named to the team. The 2010 team marks the first appearances to the Under-22 Team for Bozek, Erickson, Kessel and Schoullis, the second time for West and Schleper.
