MANKATO, Minn. – Head coach Dennis Amundson announced that the Minnesota State Maverick volleyball program has signed five student-athletes to National Letters of Intent for 2012.

Joining the Mavericks next year will be Keli Johnson of Fargo, N.D., Rachel Ott of Stoughton, Wis., Courtney Schulz of Spencer, Wis., Lexi Platz of Lafayette, Minn., and Kenzie Lind of Rushford, Minn.

MANKATO, Minn. – The Minnesota State Mavericks won their home opener Monday night in an 88-46 rout at the Taylor Center over visiting Waldorf College.

MSU got out to a great start in front of its home fans beginning the game on a 20-0 run over the games first six minutes.

Houghton, Mich. --- The Minnesota State men’s basketball team was limited to 33.9 field goal percentage as it suffered a 74-63 loss to Michigan Tech Saturday afternoon.

“We have got to learn from this loss,” said head coach Matt Margenthaler. “We have to get better in a short week before we head to Florida.”

Duluth, Minn. --- Minnesota State fell 5-2 at eighth-rated Minnesota Duluth Friday in Western Collegiate Hockey Association action.

UMD, the defending national champions, got the game’s first goal at the 3:27 mark of the opening frame after Caleb Herbert took the puck off the wall and after sliding into the slot, fired a shot that beat Austin Lee on the stick side. MSU owned a 21-9 advantage in the period.

Mankato, Minn. --- The Minnesota State men’s basketball team opened the season Sunday afternoon with a 70-55 victory over Dickinson State University in front of 457 fans in the Taylor Center.

The win marked the eighth time that MSU has won its opener under head coach Matt Margenthaler, and the third time in a row that it has done so.
