The New York Mills girls tennis team suffered a pair of dual meet losses this past week and finished off the busy week at the Prairie Conference Individual Tournament in Long Prairie, but failed to advanced past the first round of play.

The Lady Eagles’ home match on September 20 (Tuesday) with Wadena-Deer Creek was postponed due to rain, and will be made up on Monday, October 3 at 4:30 p.m.

The New York Mills wrapped up a week of girls tennis action at the annual Moose Invitational in Brainerd on Saturday.

On Thursday, the Lady Eagles entertain Prairie Conference rival Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa on the home courts but were shut out by the Jaguars.

Two Wadena-Deer Creek girls tennis players landed on the Mid-State All-Conference team, which was announced Tuesday.

Wadena-Deer Creek swept through the singles portion and picked up a doubles win to post a 5-2 victory over Perham in Mid-State Conference girls tennis action Tuesday.

The Lady Wolverines Macy Hartman had to work for her No. 1 singles match victory against a stubborn Hannah Brenk of Perham. After breezing to a 6-1 win in the first set, Hartman lost the second set by a close score of 5-7 before notching the third set tiebreaker win, 7-4.

New York Mills swept all four singles matches to slip past the visiting Perham Yellowjackets by a score of 4-3 on Monday afternoon.

Jen Maki provided the crucial match point for the Lady Eagles at No. 3 singles with her third-set tiebreaker win over Ashley Silbernagel of the Yellowjackets. She bounced back from a first-set loss to win the next two to give New York Mills the match.

The Lady Eagles also got singles victories from Missy Hendrickx, Lauren Bach and Jenna Esala.
