Sebeka bounced back from Friday’s loss to close out the regular season Saturday afternoon with a convincing 76-58 non-conference victory over the ninth-ranked Park Christian Falcons.

“It was great to see us respond to a tough loss with a hard fought win.” Sebeka coach Jon Lillquist said. “With back-to-back games we looked a little tired in the legs in the first half but after halftime we caught our second wind and took over the game.”

The win extended the Trojans’ home winning streak to 28 games.

Third-ranked Sebeka suffered only their second loss of the season when they dropped a tight 69-66 non-conference game to the Class 2A Staples-Motley Cardinals on Friday night.

The loss snaps the Trojans 22-game win streak. Sebeka last tasted defeat back in December 12 against the (then) top-ranked Class 2A New London-Spicer Wildcats 72-70 during the Tip Off Classic.

Four Sebeka starters posted double figures but the night belonged to the Cardinals’ senior forward Derek Wolhowe.

Sebeka and Bertha-Hewitt shared the Park Region Conference title last year.

This year, the Trojans weren’t in any mood to share as they clinched the school’s first outright PRC title in Friday night’s 73-64 victory over the sixth-ranked Bears.

The last time Sebeka held sole possession of any conference title was back in 1971 when they won the Lake Region Conference title. In 1975, they were co-champions.

Four Trojan starters scored in double figures as the third-ranked Sebeka Trojans rolled to their 20th straight win in Tuesday’s 80-53 non-conference victory over Upsala.

“We are starting to play some of out best basketball of the season and we picked the right time of the year to do it.” Sebeka head coach Jon Lillquist said.

Ryan Sharp was right on the money for the Trojans. The junior sharp-shooter hit six of seven shots from the floor and nailed three of five attempts from beyond the arc for a team-high 21 points.

Ryan Sharp tossed a game-high 21 points to allow the third-ranked Sebeka Trojans to stonewall the host Eagle Valley Rebels 77-52 in non-conference action Monday.

The Trojans started out the game on a 13-0 run that was fueled by senior Joey Cuperus’ six points. Eagle Valley, however, came charging back to pull within five points at the break, 33-28. Alex Brockpahler scored 12 of his 15 points in the first half, which allowed the Trojans to keep their lead against the furious Rebel rally.
