The temperatures were a bit on the cool side but the sun was bright during Saturday’s state cross-country championships at St. Olaf College in Northfield. And one factor remained constant from one year earlier: Shakopee’s Maria Hauger.

The sophomore was the only one of three defending champions to repeat, and she did it in dominating style with a 15-second margin over runner-up Jamie Piepenburg of Alexandria. Last year, Piepenburg was third.
