Both the Sebeka and Henning volleyball teams landed four players on the recently announced Park Region All-Conference Team.

Sebeka, which won the outright Park Region Conference crown with a 6-0 mark, was led by Jessica Lillquist. The senior middle hitter was voted the Park Region Conference Most Valuable Player.

Barnesville had nine players receiving postseason accolades when the 21 member All-Prairie North Conference Team was recently announced.

The Trojans (9-1) went 5-0 in conference games and finished with the No. 3 ranking in the final Class 2A coaches poll. Barnesville was upset by Warroad 21-20 in the Section 8AA semifinal playoff game.

Not only did Barnesville dominate with the number of players named to the all-conference squad, they also snagged four of the Prairie North Conference’s five top offensive and defensive awards.

Two team champions return this Saturday, Nov. 5, when the Minnesota State High School League’s 2011 State Girls’ and Boys’ Cross Country Running Meet is conducted at St. Olaf College in Northfield. The Perham boys and Adrian girls are both in the hunt for their second consecutive titles in Class A.

Ellie Rutten posted five kills and six blocks and Brooke Kupfer added 10 digs for New York Mills in Thursday’s Park Region Conference loss to Sebeka.

The Lady Trojans posted 25-6, 25-16 and 25-23 scores to remain undefeated in conference play.

Brandon Junes found receiver Keiler Skaro for a 22-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter, but it would be the only bright spot for United North Central in the 54-8 loss to Osakis during a Prairie North Conference game Friday night.

Upsala-Swanville Area kicked off its victory over United North Central with a blocked punt and capped the 35-0 shutout with a interception return for a touchdown.

Those two big plays spelled doom for United North Central as they struggled offensively with four interceptions. The Warriors finished with 167 total yards on the night.

Brittney Noon lasered 14 kills and Emily Miron added 10 as Class AA, 10th ranked Wadena-Deer Creek dispatch Sebeka 3-0 during a non-conference girls volleyball match Tuesday at the elementary school gymnasium.

The Lady Wolverines posted 25-15, 25-22 and 25-15 scores to hand the visiting Lady Trojans (3-1) their first loss of the season.

Brandon Junes connected with Markus Tolkkinen on a 30-yard touchdown pass with over a minute left in the game to give the Warriors the 20-19 victory Friday night in Sebeka.

The junior passed for 239 yards and two touchdowns and ran in another as United North Central survived a wild fourth quarter that saw the score changed hands five times.
