New York Mills continued their late season resurgence by winning both games of the Park Region Conference doubleheader against Sebeka on Thursday.

The Lady Eagles belted out 16 hits and collected four doubles to hand the Lady Trojans a 9-4 defeat in the opener.

New York Mills had each player in the order garner at least a hit with Jenna Esala doing the most damage at the plate. The sophomore went 3-for-4 with two doubles and four RBIs while Samantha Welter also scattered three hits and had a double.

The Menahga softball team snapped their six-game losing streak with a convincing Park Region Conference sweep of Sebeka on Tuesday.

Sebeka drew first blood in the opener on Jessica Lillquist’s RBI single in the top of the first inning that scored Taylor Schwartz for the 1-0 lead.

Megan Miller got the Lady Braves to answer in the bottom half of the frame with a line drive to left field that plated Jenny Haataja and Amelia Pho. Menahga added another run in the second on Tara Cleveland’s single up the middle that scored Emily Skoog for the 3-1 lead.

Three area teams converged into Menahga on Saturday to participate in the eight-team Lady Braves Softball Invitational.

The Sebeka Lady Trojans went 2-1 to finish in third place in the tournament. They defeated Pequot Lakes 11-0 in the opener, but lost a close 2-0 decision to runner-up Hawley in the semifinals. Sebeka blanked the host Lady Braves 12-0 in the third place game.

The Sebeka Lady Trojans gained a pair of Park Region Conference wins against Verndale on Tuesday. Sebeka won game one 8-3 and wrapped up the nightcap with a 3-0 shutout.

Game One
Verndale took the early lead with a pair of runs in the first inning. Crystal Haskin got the Lady Pirates going with a two-out double, Jamie Kern walked and both runners scored when Heather Hejhal lined a single into center field.
