After taking a loss in relief earlier in the week, former St. Cloud State pitching ace David Deminsky was very impressive in his first start at the professional ranks for the Minnesota Twins' Gulf Coast Rookie team on July 1.

Deminsky's first start came against the Tampa Bay Rays GCL team where he threw an impressive six innings of four hit ball, while giving up one earned run and striking out three and not walking a hitter. For the year his earned run average dropped to 3.12 in eight innings of work.

St. Cloud State University’s head volleyball coach Michelle Blaeser and SCSU Athletics Director Dr. Morris Kurtz are pleased to announce the appointment of Malama (Marci) Alofa Peniata as the volleyball assistant coach.

Marci Peniata spent the last three seasons as the second assistant coach for the Ball State University women’s volleyball team. Prior to her tenure at Ball State, Peniata was a four-year member of the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers women’s volleyball team.

St. Cloud State Head Women’s Basketball Coach Lori Fish has announced the appointment of Megan Vogel as the women’s assistant basketball coach. Vogel’s appointment is effective July 1.

The 37th Annual Minnesota High School All-Star Football Game will be played on Saturday June 26 at Husky Stadium on the campus of St. Cloud  State University. The kick-off will be at 7:00 PM. This will be the sixth year that St. Cloud State University has hosted the All-Star Football Game.

St. Cloud State University’s head softball coach Paula U’Ren is pleased to announce the signing of Katie Erickson (Elk River) to a National Letter of Intent and Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference tender to attend St. Cloud State in the fall of 2010 and play softball for the Huskies.

The World Junior Exhibition Series featuring the national 18 year old and under teams from the United States, Canada and Taiwan are coming to Joe Faber Field in St. Cloud, Minn. on July 19 and 20 according to St. Cloud River Bats managing partner, Joel Sutherland. A fourth team consisting of “Area Select All-Stars” will also play in this exhibition series.

The second-seeded Minnesota State baseball squad, ranked fifteenth in the nation defeated the sixth-seeded St. Cloud State Huskies in come-from-behind fashion, 11-10.
