The #4 St. Cloud State University men’s hockey team (20-11-5, 15-9-4 WCHA) clinched third place in the 2009-10 WCHA regular season race with a 2-2 OT decision against Minnesota State University (15-18-3, 9-17-2 WCHA) on Saturday at the National Hockey Center.

The Huskies will now host first round action in the upcoming WCHA playoffs on March 12-14 at the National Hockey Center. The Huskies’ first round opponent will be determined by the results of tonight’s final WCHA regular season game between Alaska Anchorage and Minnesota Duluth.

The St. Cloud State University baseball team (9-3) dropped a 9-7 decision against Arkansas Tech (13-5) Saturday night in a game played as part of the Drury University tournament in Springfield, Mo.

SCSU charged to a 3-1 lead in the third inning, and then pushed its lead to 6-1 with a three-run sixth inning.

Jordan Smith led the Huskies with four hits and four RBI's. Joey Benke added two runs with three hits,and three RBI's. While senior Nate Hammes contributed two runs and two hits on five at bats.

The St. Cloud State softball squad (6-2, 0-0 NSIC) garnered an 8-2 victory over Lake Superior State and a 1-10 loss in five innings against Northwood (Mich.) in the first day of competition at the Rebel Spring Games on Saturday.

The Huskies tallied 11 hits to cruise to an 8-2 victory over Lake Superior State in their first game at the Rebel Spring Games.

The St. Cloud State men’s basketball team put together a late-game run to beat Wayne State College 74-66 in the semifinal round of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference/Sanford Health tournament Saturday.

St. Cloud State junior guard Talisha Barlow (Little Canada) has been named to the 2009-10 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Women’s Basketball All-Conference Second Team. Barlow was named All-Conference for the second straight season.

Barlow led the Huskies in scoring and rebounding this season, averaging 14.7 points and 4.6 rebounds. She shot 47.1 percent from the field and 77.8 percent from the free throw line. She scored in double figures in all but six games.

Freshman first baseman Ally Koski (Savage) was named the first 2010 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference softball player of the week after a solid debut weekend in a St. Cloud State uniform.

Koski had a breakout weekend for St. Cloud State, rattling off 10 hits and 14 RBI in her collegiate debut weekend.

The Bemidji State University Beavers (11-18-7, 9-12-7-3 WCHA) came from behind to edge the St. Cloud State women’s hockey team (15-13-8, 11-11-6-4 WCHA) by a score of 2-1 on Saturday, Feb. 27, to force and third and decisive playoff game on Sunday in the National Hockey Center.

The St. Cloud State softball team dropped its first game of the 2010 season 14-5 to the University of Wisconsin-Superior in a game that featured 19 runs and 20 hits Saturday afternoon in the second game of the day for the Huskies in the Husky Dome Invitational.

The Huskies drop to 3-1 this season, while the Yellow Jackets earned their second win of the day and second win of the season to move to 2-2 overall.
