Emily Miron (12) was one of five Wadena-Deer Creek players to be named to the 2011 Mid-State All-Conference Team recently. The junior led the team with 254 blocks and slammed 402 kills during the season.

Brittney Noon scored a volleyball double-double with 15 kills and 10 digs and Emily Miron notched 11 kills for Wadena-Deer Creek during Monday’s Mid-State Conference victory over Staples-Motley.

The Class AA, eighth-ranked Lady Wolverines breezed past the Cardinals 25-9, 25-15 and 25-10.

Prep Volleyball: Lady Wolverines dispatch Staples-Motley 3-0

Courtney Volkmann served up 11 aces and Brittney Noon hammered down nine kills to help second-ranked Wadena-Deer Creek easily dispatch Staples-Motley in three games during a Mid-State Conference volleyball match Monday.

The Lady Wolverines limited the Cardinals to 19 points the entire match, winning by scores of 25-6, 25-8 and 25-5.

Volkmann also contributed 23 set assists, three kills, eight digs and two blocks in the conference win. Rachael Carlisle came up with 11 digs and Rachel Craig notched six blocks, both team highs.

Prep Volleyball: Menahga clips Staples-Motley in three

Menahga picked up their third consecutive and seventh victory of the season by clipping the visiting staples-Motley Cardinals in three games Tuesday in Menahga.

The Lady Braves were led by senior Lindsey White with a team high eight kills to go with her eight digs, one block and four set assists. Senior Amelia Pho also contributed seven kills, eight digs and one set assist.

Menahga dispatched the Cardinals by scores of 25-20, 25-12 and 25-16.

Tarah Cleveland notched a team-high 18 digs with Delanie Weyer tallying 18 set assists in the Lady Braves victory.
