The Wadena-Deer Creek nine wrapped up their regular season on a positive note with the 7-2 victory over host Pelican Rapids on Tuesday.
Cody Redfield went 3-for-4 with a triple and drove in a run to lead the Wolverines 11 hit attack.
“An all-around well played game.” Wolverine head coach Kyle Dykhoff said. “We got our bats going again heading into the playoffs.”
Kevin Tumberg went 2-for-2 with a pair of doubles and Ryan Nelson also collected two hits for the Wolverines, who erupted for three runs in the first inning.

Prep Baseball: Wolverines sweep Pequot Lakes to assure first winning season
The Wadena-Deer creek baseball team swept both games of the Mid-State Conference doubleheader from Pequot Lakes by scores of 5-1 and 3-1 on Tuesday.
The doubleheader sweep assured the Wolverines of their first winning season since 2005.
“This group took it upon themselves turn this program around,” Wadena-Deer Creek coach Kyle Dykhoff said. “The nine wins so far are more than the last three seasons combined, and we’ve accomplished some team goals along the way—including snapping the losing streak to Perham.”
Prep Baseball: Wolverines gain split to snap 22-game skid with ‘Jackets
The Wadena-Deer Creek baseball team wound up with a split of the Mid-State Conference doubleheader with Perham on Monday, winning the opener 5-2 before losing the nightcap 9-2.
For Wadena-Deer Creek Head Coach Kyle Dykhoff and the Wolverines, they’ll be more than happy to take the split. That’s because they accomplished one of their primary goals this season, and that was to snap a 22-game losing streak against the rival Yellowjackets
Prep Softball: Pequot Lakes stuns Lady Wolverines in playoff opener
What a difference five days makes.
The Wadena-Deer Creek girls softball team defeated Pequot Lakes in a regular season conference doubleheader on May 20 by scores of 7-5 and 6-1.
On Tuesday, the seventh-seeded Patriots turned the tables to pull out the 4-2 upset of the second-seeded Lady Wolverines in the South Subsection 8AA playoff opener.
Pequot Lakes scattered eight hits as Kim Narveson finished 2-for-2 with a triple and two RBIs. Megan Hogen also slugged out a triple and teammate Rachael Langer went 2-for-4 with a double as the Patriots advanced.
