Sari Noga drained a game-high 33 points—including five from beyond the arc—as third-ranked Parkers Prairie blew past the host Verndale Lady Pirates 84-33 Thursday.

The Panthers also got 25 points—and four three pointers—from Madison Dorn and Kaylee Dorn added 10.

Parkers Prairie ended up connecting 11 shots from downtown to scorch the Lady Pirates, and carried a comfortable 43-13 lead at halftime.

Jordy Schluttner led Verndale with a team-high nine points while Elizabeth Johnson added 8.

Hannah Rutten scored a game-high 24 points and grabbed 12 rebounds while Alicia Boe drained 22 points—three from beyond the arch—as eighth-ranked New York Mills stifled the host Verndale Pirates 76-21 in Park Region Conference play Monday.

The Lady Eagles couldn’t miss in the first half as they dropped 61 percent of their shots to carry a 39-point lead into halftime, 51-12.

New York Mills ended up shooting 56 percent (28-for-50) from the floor but it was their defense that gave the Lady Pirates fits.

Katie Miller drained a team-high 19 points and Tarah Cleveland added 18 to help Menahga end their four-game slide with the 64-52 Park Region Conference victory over host Verndale on Tuesday.
 
Verndale (2-11) was led by Elizabeth Johnson with a game-high 27 points but the Lady Pirates continue to remain winless in conference play.
 
Arielle Pihlaja contributed 11 points and Lindsey White had nine as Menahga improved to 4-9 overall and 2-4 in the conference.

Cody Pulju drained a game-high 17 points as the Sebeka Trojans handed Verndale an 81-32 Park Region Conference defeat on Tuesday.
 
The Trojans raced to a 46-14 halftime lead, which allowed Sebeka head coach Jon Lillquist to give his bench players significant playing time.
 
"We had some guys off the bench who played real well.” Lillquist said.

Betsy Olson drained a game-high 29 points and Bridget Martini scored 21 as the Sebeka Lady Trojans trounced host Verndale in the 92-27 Park Region Conference victory Friday.
 
The Lady Trojans raced to a 67-11 halftime lead.
 
“Everything was going right for us and Verndale had trouble with our defense,” Sebeka coach Mike Heino said.

Verndale senior running back Amos Schmidt and senior offensive lineman Clayton Cottrell were named to the Minnesota Coaches Association 9-Man Football All-State team.
 
Also joining them were junior defensive tackle John Kohlhase and senior quarterback Colby Schmidt on the Honorable Mention list.
 
Schmidt, a 5-foot-9, 190-pounder finished with 2,046 yards rushing on 260 attempts in helping the Pirates to an 11-1 record and Section 4 title this season.

Four teams return to defend their 2008 titles: Caledonia in Class AA, Glencoe-Silver Lake in Class AAA, Mankato West in Class AAAA, and Wayzata in Class AAAAA.

Twenty-one teams that competed in the 2008 tournament have qualified again, while four teams are making their first appearances. Twenty-one teams also enter with unblemished records.
