Both the Sebeka and Henning volleyball teams landed four players on the recently announced Park Region All-Conference Team.

Sebeka, which won the outright Park Region Conference crown with a 6-0 mark, was led by Jessica Lillquist. The senior middle hitter was voted the Park Region Conference Most Valuable Player.

Verndale grinded out another five set victory for the second straight match with Thursday’s Park Region Conference win over Pillager.

Teresa Moenkedick lit up the stat book by posting a team-high 25 kills, 27 digs and three ace serves for the Lady Pirates, who even their conference mark at 3-3 for the season.

Jordanna Schluttner notched 11 kills and a team-high 14 blocks while Sarah Moenkedick put up 37 set assists for Verndale.

Teresa Moenkedick was all over the court as Verndale outlasted Menahga 3-2 during Tuesday’s Park Region Conference battle.

The junior outside hitter registered 13 kills, 27 digs and five ace serves—all team highs— for the Lady Pirates, who needed five sets to turn back the Lady Braves 10-25, 25-22, 25-23, 24-26 and 15-6 to complete the season sweep.

Andy Bounds scored on a 18-yard run with 2:22 left in the game and Colton Moyer’s late interception gave Verndale its second win of the season in Friday’s 14-8 Pheasant Conference victory over rival Bertha-Hewitt.

The Pirates struck first on a nine-yard pass from Dillon Card to Kory Stave and Dallas Ehrmantraut snagged the conversion pass for the 8-0 lead at 6:00 of the first quarter.

New York Mills rallied from two sets down to edge Verndale 3-2 during Thursday’s epic Park Region Conference battle between the two rivals.

“All the games were extremely close,” said New York Mills head coach Amy Koskela. “It was good for us to come back and play games four and five and end up on top!”

Verndale dropped three matches, but picked up a tie in another during Saturday’s Ulen-Hitterdal Tournament.

The Lady Pirates were topped by Kittson County Central (25-17, 25-11) and Hawley (25-14, 25-14) before they manage to salvage a tie with Norman County West (25-16, 23-25). Verndale capped the tournament with a 23-25, 13-25 loss to the host Ulen-Hitterdal Spartans.

Teresa Moenkedick registered eight kills, 16 digs and four blocks, but it wasn’t enough as Henning swept the Lady Pirates 25-9, 25-12, 25-7 during Thursday’s Park Region Conference match.

Jordyn Glenz notched a team-high 11 blocks to go with her nine digs and two kills with Jordanna Schluttner adding seven kills, one set assist, two digs and 10 blocks.

Verndale had a strong team effort during Monday’s 3-1 non-conference victory over visiting Eagle Valley.

The Lady Pirates also served up 11 aces as they won the match by scores of 27-25, 25-7, 19-25 and 25-8. Teresa Moenkedick, Jordyn Glenz, Elyssa Kern, Jordanna Schluttner and Miranda Dougherty each served up two aces..
