Wadena-Deer Creek won three of the four singles matches and picked up a key win in the doubles to clinch a close 4-3 victory over Perham during Monday’s Mid-State Conference court action.

Wadena-Deer Creek swept all four singles matches to come away with the 4-3 victory over the Long Prairie-Grey Eagle Thunder Friday.

Dennis Loeper, Austin Korkowski and Michael Paavola won the Wolverines top three singles matches in straight sets. Wolverine Corey Pettow bounced back from his first set loss at fourth singles to provide the match-winning point with the three set victory (4-6, 6-4, 6-2) over the Thunder's Mitch Welter.

Wadena-Deer Creek had three singles players and two doubles team score victories Thursday during the Mid-State Conference meet in Detroit Lakes.

Dennis Loper (No. 1), Austin Korkowski (No. 2) and Michael Paavola (No. 3) all had mixed results during their respective singles matches. Loper went 1-1 while Korkowski was 1-2 and Paavola 2-1. Wadena-Deer Creek defaulted at No. 4 singles.

Wadena-Deer Creek singles players Joey Pate and Drew Larson and the doubles team of Michael Paavola/Austin Korkowski won matches as the Wolverines lost both meets during the Detroit Lakes triangular Tuesday.

The Wolverines lost to Crookston 5-2, and then dropped a 6-1 decision to the host Lakers.

Wadena-Deer Creek swept their four singles matches and took one of three doubles matches to swat Perham 5-2 in a Mid-State Conference meet Thursday.

It was the first court victory of the season for the Wolverines.

Drew Larson had to go three sets to pick up the Wolverines’ victory at No. 4 singles. The sophomore lost the first set 7-5 to the ‘Jackets’ Randy Swanson but bounced back to win the next two by scores of 6-3 and 7-5.

Minnewaska Area swept all seven matches to blank Wadena-Deer Creek during non-conference boys tennis action on Tuesday.

The Wolverines’ Michael Paavola was the only player to score three set points at No. 1 singles.

Wadena-Deer Creek hosts Perham at 4:30 p.m. Thursday for a Mid-State Conference match.

Park Rapids Area swept all four singles matches and picked up a pair of doubles victories to hand visiting Wadena-Deer Creek a 6-1 Mid-State Conference loss on Thursday.

The first doubles team of Austin Korkowski and Michael Paavola picked up the Wolverines’ lone match point in the loss. The sophomore duo defeated the Panthers’ Chris Shaw/Jeff Dickenson in straight sets by scores of 6-0, 6-1.
