Six of the eight Class A teams that played last year have qualified again, while in Class AA there are only two teams qualified that played last year. Only one team, Detroit Lakes in Class A, is making a first tournament appearance.

Warroad earned the No. 2 Class A seed for its quest to defend its 2011 title. The No. 1 seed is last year’s third-place finisher, Breck School of Golden Valley.

Breezy Point, Minn.—Zara Einerwold iced the only goal for Long Prairie-Grey Eagle/Wadena-Deer Creek during Saturday’s 3-1 loss to Northern Lakes in the opener of the Section 6A playoffs.

Einerwold scored with 8:18 left in the game to spoil Lightning netminder Kat Jansan’s shutout bid. Both Halley Maas and Morgan Zeise provided the helpers on the play.

Long Prairie, Minn.—Julia Osowski scored four goals and Bridget Walter netted a hat trick as Princeton unleashed 46 shots at the Long Prairie-Grey Eagle/Wadena-Deer Creek net during Saturday’s 10-1 rout over the Blue Devils.

The Blue Devils only goal came with 35 seconds left in the first period on Ashley Helseth’s third goal of the season with Halley Maas assisting.

Long Praire, Minn.—Lauren Christensen scored three goals and assisted on three others as Luverne avenged an earlier loss to Long Prairie-Grey Eagle/Wadena-Deer Creek with Friday’s 7-2 victory.

Christensen scored twice in the first period and capped the Cardinals’ scoring with her hat trick goal.

 Baudette, Minn.—Lake of the Woods had a reason to celebrate Hockey Day Minnesota on Saturday after Kelsey Jonassen netted the game-winning goal late in the third period.

It was the Lady Bears’ first win since February 2010.

Jonassen scored with four minutes left to play, and Lake of the Woods held on for the 3-2 victory over visiting Long Prairie-Grey Eagle/Wadena-Deer Creek.

Willmar, Minn.—Shelby Schneider tallied a pair of goals and two playmakers as Willmar pelted Long Prairie-Grey Eagle/Wadena-Deer Creek with 54 shots en route to Friday’s 8-0 victory over the Blue Devils.

Four of the Cardinals’ goals came on the power play and one tally came shorthanded. Willmar scored five goals in the second period to break open a 1-0 game.

Breezy Point, Minn.—Alex Palm iced a hat trick as the Northern Lakes Lightning scorched Long Prairie-Grey Eagle/Wadena-Deer Creek 7-0 on Tuesday night.

It was the second consecutive game that the Blue Devils were held without a goal as they managed only 16 shots at Lighting goalie Madison Galligan.

Walker, Minn.—Jessica Gapinski tallied a hat trick and two helpers as Park Rapids Area lit up the Blue Devils in Thursday’s 10-0 rout.

Two of Gapinski’s goals came shorthanded as the Panthers scored five times in the final period to chase Blue Devil starting goalie Sarah Holm from the nets.
